29 August in cricket
29 August
Dates follow UTC, the same clock as our daily posts.
On this day in 2013, Aaron Finch produced one of the finest innings in T20 international history, smashing 156 from just 63 balls for Australia against England. It remains a benchmark for explosive opening batting, and it comfortably outshone England's spirited reply, in which Joe Root struck a classy 90 off 49 deliveries.
The date has long been kind to bowlers too. In the 2017 CPL, Sohail Tanvir delivered a remarkable spell for the Guyana Amazon Warriors against the Barbados Royals, claiming five wickets while conceding only three runs. His Guyana teammate Rashid Khan chipped in with 3 for 15 in the same competition.
Elsewhere, Lydia Greenway made 80 for England's women against Australia in 2013, capping a memorable August 29.
