30 August in cricket
30 August
Dates follow UTC, the same clock as our daily posts.
On this day in 2020, Nicolas Pooran lit up the CPL with a blistering century for the Guyana Amazon Warriors against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Reaching 100 off just 45 balls, Pooran produced one of the tournament's most explosive knocks, a masterclass in destructive T20 batting.
The date has proven kind to century-makers. In 2023, Martin Guptill matched the milestone with an unbeaten hundred for the Trinbago Knight Riders against the Barbados Royals, needing 58 balls to bring up his ton. That same year, Mitchell Marsh fell agonisingly short, blasting 92 off 49 for Australia against South Africa.
With the ball, Waqar Khan starred for Trinbago in 2023, claiming 4 for 14 against Barbados, while Imran Tahir grabbed 4 for 27 in the 2025 CPL.
