22 August in cricket

22 August

Dates follow UTC, the same clock as our daily posts.

On This Day, in the 2025 CPL, the Guyana Amazon Warriors produced a complete performance against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons. Shai Hope led with the bat, striking 82 from 54 balls, while Shimron Hetmyer provided the explosive support with a blistering 65 off just 26 deliveries. It was a batting showcase that set the tone for a memorable outing.

The pick of the bowlers on this date also belonged to Guyana, as veteran leg-spinner Imran Tahir tore through the same Falcons line-up, claiming a stunning 5 for 21.

Elsewhere, this date has seen fine efforts too. Back in the 2015 T20I between Australia and Ireland, Elyse Villani made 80 from 53 balls, with Ellyse Perry chipping in 55 from 46.

Coverage & definitionsCricsheet ball-by-ball · matches played on this date (UTC) · data through 24 October 2026Show ▾

Source. Ball-by-ball data from Cricsheet. New matches are loaded from Cricsheet twice a day (10:00 and 22:00 UTC), typically a day or two after a match is published there.

Internationals. T20 internationals are included only when both teams are ICC full members. Fixtures against Associate nations (e.g. Netherlands, Scotland, Nepal, USA) are not in the dataset, so international totals for players who faced them are lower than their full career figures. Afghanistan men's internationals are absent for a different reason: Cricsheet has withheld every match involving the Afghanistan men's team since 14 November 2024, so none of them can be loaded. Every full member's totals are lower by the matches they played against Afghanistan, and Afghanistan men's players do not appear at all. Afghanistan women's matches are unaffected.

Leagues. Leagues: IPL, BBL, PSL, CPL, SA20, MLC, ILT20, BPL, LPL, WBBL, WPL — full history of each. Domestic T20 competitions outside this list (e.g. the Blast, SMAT, Super Smash) are not included.

Exclusions. Super overs are excluded from every total. A match abandoned without a ball bowled has no ball-by-ball file and is not in the dataset, even where a toss took place and official records credit the named players with an appearance. M can therefore sit one or two below a player's official career figure. Match appearances (M) come from the playing XI in each match file, so a match where a player neither batted nor bowled still counts as an appearance. Where M is missing, that player's appearances have not been loaded yet.

"Best" innings and spells are ranked by runs and by wickets then runs conceded; a quiet date here is only quiet within this dataset.
