7 August in cricket
7 August
Dates follow UTC, the same clock as our daily posts.
On this day in 2014, Marlon Samuels lit up the Caribbean Premier League with a blazing century for the Antigua Hawksbills against the Guyana Amazon Warriors. His 106 came off just 52 balls, a commanding display of power hitting that stands as the finest batting effort recorded on this date in T20 history.
Fittingly, the same fixture produced a stellar reply, with Martin Guptill striking 90 off 51 balls for Guyana. Nearly a decade later, Babar Azam matched Samuels' brilliance with 104 off 59 for the Colombo Strikers against the Galle Titans in the 2023 LPL.
With the ball, Ravi Bishnoi led the way in 2022, taking 4 for 16 for India against the West Indies, supported by Kuldeep Yadav's economical 3 for 12.

Coverage & definitionsCricsheet ball-by-ball · matches played on this date (UTC) · data through 24 October 2026Show ▾
Source. Ball-by-ball data from Cricsheet. New matches are loaded from Cricsheet twice a day (10:00 and 22:00 UTC), typically a day or two after a match is published there.
Internationals. T20 internationals are included only when both teams are ICC full members. Fixtures against Associate nations (e.g. Netherlands, Scotland, Nepal, USA) are not in the dataset, so international totals for players who faced them are lower than their full career figures. Afghanistan men's internationals are absent for a different reason: Cricsheet has withheld every match involving the Afghanistan men's team since 14 November 2024, so none of them can be loaded. Every full member's totals are lower by the matches they played against Afghanistan, and Afghanistan men's players do not appear at all. Afghanistan women's matches are unaffected.
Leagues. Leagues: IPL, BBL, PSL, CPL, SA20, MLC, ILT20, BPL, LPL, WBBL, WPL — full history of each. Domestic T20 competitions outside this list (e.g. the Blast, SMAT, Super Smash) are not included.
Exclusions. Super overs are excluded from every total. A match abandoned without a ball bowled has no ball-by-ball file and is not in the dataset, even where a toss took place and official records credit the named players with an appearance. M can therefore sit one or two below a player's official career figure. Match appearances (M) come from the playing XI in each match file, so a match where a player neither batted nor bowled still counts as an appearance. Where M is missing, that player's appearances have not been loaded yet.
"Best" innings and spells are ranked by runs and by wickets then runs conceded; a quiet date here is only quiet within this dataset.
