6 August in cricket

6 August

Dates follow UTC, the same clock as our daily posts.

On this day in 2011, Tillakaratne Dilshan produced a masterful century for Sri Lanka against Australia, smashing 104 off just 57 balls in a T20I. It remains the standout batting performance recorded on 8 June in T20 history, and Dilshan clearly relished this date — two years later, in 2013, he struck another blistering 74 off 51 against South Africa.

That 2013 fixture was rich with runs, as Faf du Plessis answered with 85 off 65 balls for South Africa against Sri Lanka. More recently, Nicolas Pooran lit up 2023 with a rapid 67 off 40 for West Indies against India.

With the ball, Mohammad Sami's electric 4 for 12 for the Jamaica Tallawahs in the 2017 CPL leads the bowling honours.

Coverage & definitionsCricsheet ball-by-ball · matches played on this date (UTC) · data through 24 October 2026Show ▾

Source. Ball-by-ball data from Cricsheet. New matches are loaded from Cricsheet twice a day (10:00 and 22:00 UTC), typically a day or two after a match is published there.

Internationals. T20 internationals are included only when both teams are ICC full members. Fixtures against Associate nations (e.g. Netherlands, Scotland, Nepal, USA) are not in the dataset, so international totals for players who faced them are lower than their full career figures. Afghanistan men's internationals are absent for a different reason: Cricsheet has withheld every match involving the Afghanistan men's team since 14 November 2024, so none of them can be loaded. Every full member's totals are lower by the matches they played against Afghanistan, and Afghanistan men's players do not appear at all. Afghanistan women's matches are unaffected.

Leagues. Leagues: IPL, BBL, PSL, CPL, SA20, MLC, ILT20, BPL, LPL, WBBL, WPL — full history of each. Domestic T20 competitions outside this list (e.g. the Blast, SMAT, Super Smash) are not included.

Exclusions. Super overs are excluded from every total. A match abandoned without a ball bowled has no ball-by-ball file and is not in the dataset, even where a toss took place and official records credit the named players with an appearance. M can therefore sit one or two below a player's official career figure. Match appearances (M) come from the playing XI in each match file, so a match where a player neither batted nor bowled still counts as an appearance. Where M is missing, that player's appearances have not been loaded yet.

"Best" innings and spells are ranked by runs and by wickets then runs conceded; a quiet date here is only quiet within this dataset.
