2 July in cricket

2 July

Dates follow UTC, the same clock as our daily posts.

On this day in 2016, Colin Munro lit up the CPL with a magnificent century for Trinbago Knight Riders against the Guyana Amazon Warriors. Munro blazed 100 off just 65 balls, headlining a memorable batting duel with Guyana's Chris Lynn, who countered with a rapid 77 from 43 deliveries for the opposition.

Two years later, Billy Stanlake produced one of T20 international cricket's most devastating bowling spells. The Australian quick tore through Pakistan with figures of 4 for 8, an outstanding return backed by Aaron Finch's brisk 68 off 33 balls at the top of the order.

The date also delivered plenty in the 2024 LPL, where Dunith Wellalage (4 for 20) and Shadab Khan (4 for 22) shared the wickets as Colombo Strikers pressed Kandy Falcons.

Coverage & definitionsCricsheet ball-by-ball · matches played on this date (UTC) · data through 24 October 2026Show ▾

Source. Ball-by-ball data from Cricsheet. New matches are loaded from Cricsheet twice a day (10:00 and 22:00 UTC), typically a day or two after a match is published there.

Internationals. T20 internationals are included only when both teams are ICC full members. Fixtures against Associate nations (e.g. Netherlands, Scotland, Nepal, USA) are not in the dataset, so international totals for players who faced them are lower than their full career figures. Afghanistan men's internationals are absent for a different reason: Cricsheet has withheld every match involving the Afghanistan men's team since 14 November 2024, so none of them can be loaded. Every full member's totals are lower by the matches they played against Afghanistan, and Afghanistan men's players do not appear at all. Afghanistan women's matches are unaffected.

Leagues. Leagues: IPL, BBL, PSL, CPL, SA20, MLC, ILT20, BPL, LPL, WBBL, WPL — full history of each. Domestic T20 competitions outside this list (e.g. the Blast, SMAT, Super Smash) are not included.

Exclusions. Super overs are excluded from every total. A match abandoned without a ball bowled has no ball-by-ball file and is not in the dataset, even where a toss took place and official records credit the named players with an appearance. M can therefore sit one or two below a player's official career figure. Match appearances (M) come from the playing XI in each match file, so a match where a player neither batted nor bowled still counts as an appearance. Where M is missing, that player's appearances have not been loaded yet.

"Best" innings and spells are ranked by runs and by wickets then runs conceded; a quiet date here is only quiet within this dataset.
