3 July in cricket
3 July
Dates follow UTC, the same clock as our daily posts.
On This Day, in 2018, Aaron Finch produced one of T20 international cricket's most breathtaking innings, smashing 172 from just 76 balls against Zimbabwe. It stands as a monument to controlled destruction, cementing his place among the format's most fearsome openers. On the same day, Andrew Tye chipped in with 3 wickets for just 12 runs to complete Australia's dominance.
Also in 2018, a superb bowling display came from Kuldeep Yadav, who claimed 5 for 24 against England, while KL Rahul struck 101 from 54 balls in the same fixture, underlining India's all-round strength.
More recently, Sherfane Rutherford's 86 off 44 in the 2025 MLC and Kushal Janith Perera's 102 in the 2024 LPL added their names to this date's celebrated performances.

Coverage & definitionsCricsheet ball-by-ball · matches played on this date (UTC) · data through 24 October 2026Show ▾
Source. Ball-by-ball data from Cricsheet. New matches are loaded from Cricsheet twice a day (10:00 and 22:00 UTC), typically a day or two after a match is published there.
Internationals. T20 internationals are included only when both teams are ICC full members. Fixtures against Associate nations (e.g. Netherlands, Scotland, Nepal, USA) are not in the dataset, so international totals for players who faced them are lower than their full career figures. Afghanistan men's internationals are absent for a different reason: Cricsheet has withheld every match involving the Afghanistan men's team since 14 November 2024, so none of them can be loaded. Every full member's totals are lower by the matches they played against Afghanistan, and Afghanistan men's players do not appear at all. Afghanistan women's matches are unaffected.
Leagues. Leagues: IPL, BBL, PSL, CPL, SA20, MLC, ILT20, BPL, LPL, WBBL, WPL — full history of each. Domestic T20 competitions outside this list (e.g. the Blast, SMAT, Super Smash) are not included.
Exclusions. Super overs are excluded from every total. A match abandoned without a ball bowled has no ball-by-ball file and is not in the dataset, even where a toss took place and official records credit the named players with an appearance. M can therefore sit one or two below a player's official career figure. Match appearances (M) come from the playing XI in each match file, so a match where a player neither batted nor bowled still counts as an appearance. Where M is missing, that player's appearances have not been loaded yet.
"Best" innings and spells are ranked by runs and by wickets then runs conceded; a quiet date here is only quiet within this dataset.
