30 June in cricket
30 June
Dates follow UTC, the same clock as our daily posts.
On This Day in 2012, the Universe Boss put on a show. Chris Gayle blasted 85 from just 52 balls for West Indies against New Zealand, anchoring a destructive top order. He was given thunderous support by Kieron Pollard, whose explosive 63 came off only 29 deliveries. Sunil Narine then chipped in with the ball, claiming 3 for 34 to complete a memorable West Indian effort.
Gayle clearly enjoys this date, returning in 2015 to score 72 from 54 balls for the Jamaica Tallawahs against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the CPL.
The date also belongs to Sohail Tanvir, whose superb 4 for 20 for the Guyana Amazon Warriors against the Patriots in 2016 stands as the finest bowling display.

Coverage & definitionsCricsheet ball-by-ball · matches played on this date (UTC) · data through 24 October 2026Show ▾
Source. Ball-by-ball data from Cricsheet. New matches are loaded from Cricsheet twice a day (10:00 and 22:00 UTC), typically a day or two after a match is published there.
Internationals. T20 internationals are included only when both teams are ICC full members. Fixtures against Associate nations (e.g. Netherlands, Scotland, Nepal, USA) are not in the dataset, so international totals for players who faced them are lower than their full career figures. Afghanistan men's internationals are absent for a different reason: Cricsheet has withheld every match involving the Afghanistan men's team since 14 November 2024, so none of them can be loaded. Every full member's totals are lower by the matches they played against Afghanistan, and Afghanistan men's players do not appear at all. Afghanistan women's matches are unaffected.
Leagues. Leagues: IPL, BBL, PSL, CPL, SA20, MLC, ILT20, BPL, LPL, WBBL, WPL — full history of each. Domestic T20 competitions outside this list (e.g. the Blast, SMAT, Super Smash) are not included.
Exclusions. Super overs are excluded from every total. A match abandoned without a ball bowled has no ball-by-ball file and is not in the dataset, even where a toss took place and official records credit the named players with an appearance. M can therefore sit one or two below a player's official career figure. Match appearances (M) come from the playing XI in each match file, so a match where a player neither batted nor bowled still counts as an appearance. Where M is missing, that player's appearances have not been loaded yet.
"Best" innings and spells are ranked by runs and by wickets then runs conceded; a quiet date here is only quiet within this dataset.
