22 October in cricket
22 October
Dates follow UTC, the same clock as our daily posts.
On this day in 2023, Grace Harris produced one of the WBBL's most explosive knocks, smashing a stunning 136 off just 59 balls for Brisbane Heat against the Perth Scorchers. It was a masterclass in power hitting that overshadowed everything else on the date.
The Scorchers found themselves on the wrong end of brilliance again a year earlier, too. In 2022, Sydney Thunder's Lauren Smith ripped through Perth with sensational figures of 5 for 17, one of the standout bowling displays this date has seen.
There was international flavour as well. In 2022, Devon Conway struck 92 off 58 for New Zealand against Australia, while Tim Southee backed it up with a miserly 3 for 6. Beth Mooney also chipped in with a brisk 60 off 30 in 2023.
