On This Day
It was October 6, 2019, when Brandon King produced a masterclass for the Guyana Amazon Warriors against the Barbados Royals in the CPL. King blazed his way to an unbeaten-looking 132 off just 72 deliveries, a knock that stands tall as the finest batting display on this date in T20 history.
A year later, the same date belonged to Mumbai Indians in the IPL against Rajasthan Royals. Suryakumar Yadav anchored the batting with a brisk 79 off 47, while Jos Buttler fought back for Rajasthan with 70 from 44 balls. The day's bowling honours went to Jasprit Bumrah, whose stunning 4 for 20 proved decisive.
In women's cricket, Hayley Matthews shone twice on this date, scoring 70 for West Indies against South Africa in 2018.
