16 September in cricket
16 September
Dates follow UTC, the same clock as our daily posts.
On this day in 2025, Nicolas Pooran lit up the CPL with a blistering 90 off just 53 balls for Trinbago Knight Riders against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons. It stands as the standout batting effort recorded on September 16 in T20 history, a reminder of Pooran's destructive brilliance in the Caribbean tournament.
The date has long belonged to Trinbago's batters. Back in 2023, Keacy Carty struck 83 from 49 balls against Guyana Amazon Warriors, while Colin Munro hammered 68 off 39 against the same opponents in 2018.
For an all-round masterclass, Mohammad Hafeez owns this day. In 2011, the Pakistan star made 71 off 48 against Zimbabwe and then claimed 4 for 10 with the ball — a rare double delight.
