24 August in cricket
24 August
Dates follow UTC, the same clock as our daily posts.
On This Day, in 2013, Ahmed Shehzad lit up a T20I against Zimbabwe with a superb 98 off 64 balls, falling agonisingly short of a century but anchoring Pakistan's innings. He found able support in Mohammad Hafeez, who contributed a brisk 54 from 40 deliveries and then turned the game with the ball, claiming 3 for 30 in a genuine all-round display.
The date also carries a Caribbean Premier League flavour. In 2023, Gudakesh Motie was outstanding for the Guyana Amazon Warriors, returning figures of 4 for 29 against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Shai Hope struck 54 off 32, while Evin Lewis blazed 48 from just 24 balls for the Patriots. In 2025, Shakib Al Hasan's 3 for 11 underlined this date's bowling brilliance.

Coverage & definitionsCricsheet ball-by-ball · matches played on this date (UTC) · data through 24 October 2026Show ▾
Source. Ball-by-ball data from Cricsheet. New matches are loaded from Cricsheet twice a day (10:00 and 22:00 UTC), typically a day or two after a match is published there.
Internationals. T20 internationals are included only when both teams are ICC full members. Fixtures against Associate nations (e.g. Netherlands, Scotland, Nepal, USA) are not in the dataset, so international totals for players who faced them are lower than their full career figures. Afghanistan men's internationals are absent for a different reason: Cricsheet has withheld every match involving the Afghanistan men's team since 14 November 2024, so none of them can be loaded. Every full member's totals are lower by the matches they played against Afghanistan, and Afghanistan men's players do not appear at all. Afghanistan women's matches are unaffected.
Leagues. Leagues: IPL, BBL, PSL, CPL, SA20, MLC, ILT20, BPL, LPL, WBBL, WPL — full history of each. Domestic T20 competitions outside this list (e.g. the Blast, SMAT, Super Smash) are not included.
Exclusions. Super overs are excluded from every total. A match abandoned without a ball bowled has no ball-by-ball file and is not in the dataset, even where a toss took place and official records credit the named players with an appearance. M can therefore sit one or two below a player's official career figure. Match appearances (M) come from the playing XI in each match file, so a match where a player neither batted nor bowled still counts as an appearance. Where M is missing, that player's appearances have not been loaded yet.
"Best" innings and spells are ranked by runs and by wickets then runs conceded; a quiet date here is only quiet within this dataset.
