18 August in cricket
18 August
Dates follow UTC, the same clock as our daily posts.
On this day in 2018, Shimron Hetmyer produced a Caribbean Premier League masterclass, blazing his way to 100 off just 49 balls for the Guyana Amazon Warriors against the Jamaica Tallawahs. It remains the standout batting effort recorded on August 18 in T20 history, a century built on remarkable pace and intent from the young left-hander.
Hetmyer clearly enjoys this date. Two years later, in 2020, he struck 63 off 44 for the Warriors against the Trinbago Knight Riders, proving his August 18 heroics were no one-off.
The day has offered other gems too. Kieron Pollard hammered 63 off 40 for the Barbados Royals in 2017, while back in 2013 Chris Gayle smashed 51 off just 25 balls for the Tallawahs against Trinbago.

Coverage & definitionsCricsheet ball-by-ball · matches played on this date (UTC) · data through 24 October 2026Show ▾
Source. Ball-by-ball data from Cricsheet. New matches are loaded from Cricsheet twice a day (10:00 and 22:00 UTC), typically a day or two after a match is published there.
Internationals. T20 internationals are included only when both teams are ICC full members. Fixtures against Associate nations (e.g. Netherlands, Scotland, Nepal, USA) are not in the dataset, so international totals for players who faced them are lower than their full career figures. Afghanistan men's internationals are absent for a different reason: Cricsheet has withheld every match involving the Afghanistan men's team since 14 November 2024, so none of them can be loaded. Every full member's totals are lower by the matches they played against Afghanistan, and Afghanistan men's players do not appear at all. Afghanistan women's matches are unaffected.
Leagues. Leagues: IPL, BBL, PSL, CPL, SA20, MLC, ILT20, BPL, LPL, WBBL, WPL — full history of each. Domestic T20 competitions outside this list (e.g. the Blast, SMAT, Super Smash) are not included.
Exclusions. Super overs are excluded from every total. A match abandoned without a ball bowled has no ball-by-ball file and is not in the dataset, even where a toss took place and official records credit the named players with an appearance. M can therefore sit one or two below a player's official career figure. Match appearances (M) come from the playing XI in each match file, so a match where a player neither batted nor bowled still counts as an appearance. Where M is missing, that player's appearances have not been loaded yet.
"Best" innings and spells are ranked by runs and by wickets then runs conceded; a quiet date here is only quiet within this dataset.
