22 July in cricket
22 July
Dates follow UTC, the same clock as our daily posts.
On This Day, Saurabh Netravalkar produced one of the most remarkable bowling displays in T20 history, ripping through the San Francisco Unicorns with figures of 6 for 9 for Washington Freedom in Major League Cricket back in 2023. It remains a spell few bowlers could ever hope to match.
The date has also served up plenty of batting brilliance. In 2025, Gaby Lewis lit up a T20I for Ireland against Zimbabwe with a superb 87 off 50 balls, while Cara Murray chipped in with 3 for 17 in the same fixture. Josh Inglis smashed 78 from just 33 balls for Australia against West Indies that same year.
Earlier, in 2021, David Miller's 75 and Tabraiz Shamsi's 3 for 14 powered South Africa past Ireland.

Coverage & definitionsCricsheet ball-by-ball · matches played on this date (UTC) · data through 24 October 2026Show ▾
Source. Ball-by-ball data from Cricsheet. New matches are loaded from Cricsheet twice a day (10:00 and 22:00 UTC), typically a day or two after a match is published there.
Internationals. T20 internationals are included only when both teams are ICC full members. Fixtures against Associate nations (e.g. Netherlands, Scotland, Nepal, USA) are not in the dataset, so international totals for players who faced them are lower than their full career figures. Afghanistan men's internationals are absent for a different reason: Cricsheet has withheld every match involving the Afghanistan men's team since 14 November 2024, so none of them can be loaded. Every full member's totals are lower by the matches they played against Afghanistan, and Afghanistan men's players do not appear at all. Afghanistan women's matches are unaffected.
Leagues. Leagues: IPL, BBL, PSL, CPL, SA20, MLC, ILT20, BPL, LPL, WBBL, WPL — full history of each. Domestic T20 competitions outside this list (e.g. the Blast, SMAT, Super Smash) are not included.
Exclusions. Super overs are excluded from every total. A match abandoned without a ball bowled has no ball-by-ball file and is not in the dataset, even where a toss took place and official records credit the named players with an appearance. M can therefore sit one or two below a player's official career figure. Match appearances (M) come from the playing XI in each match file, so a match where a player neither batted nor bowled still counts as an appearance. Where M is missing, that player's appearances have not been loaded yet.
"Best" innings and spells are ranked by runs and by wickets then runs conceded; a quiet date here is only quiet within this dataset.
