16 July in cricket
16 July
Dates follow UTC, the same clock as our daily posts.
On This Day in 2021, Liam Livingstone lit up the T20I stage with a blistering 103 off just 43 balls for England against Pakistan. The powerful right-hander's century remains one of the standout knocks etched into cricket's mid-July memory, a devastating display of clean hitting.
Pakistan had their own hero that day, with Babar Azam crafting a stylish 85 from 49 balls in reply. The same 2021 date also saw Evin Lewis smash 79 off 34 for West Indies against Australia, adding to the day's batting fireworks.
With the ball, the date belongs to Mahedi Hasan, whose sensational 4 for 11 for Bangladesh against Sri Lanka in 2025 headlines the bowling honours, ahead of Alana King's tidy 3 for 8 for Australia.

Coverage & definitionsCricsheet ball-by-ball · matches played on this date (UTC) · data through 24 October 2026Show ▾
Source. Ball-by-ball data from Cricsheet. New matches are loaded from Cricsheet twice a day (10:00 and 22:00 UTC), typically a day or two after a match is published there.
Internationals. T20 internationals are included only when both teams are ICC full members. Fixtures against Associate nations (e.g. Netherlands, Scotland, Nepal, USA) are not in the dataset, so international totals for players who faced them are lower than their full career figures. Afghanistan men's internationals are absent for a different reason: Cricsheet has withheld every match involving the Afghanistan men's team since 14 November 2024, so none of them can be loaded. Every full member's totals are lower by the matches they played against Afghanistan, and Afghanistan men's players do not appear at all. Afghanistan women's matches are unaffected.
Leagues. Leagues: IPL, BBL, PSL, CPL, SA20, MLC, ILT20, BPL, LPL, WBBL, WPL — full history of each. Domestic T20 competitions outside this list (e.g. the Blast, SMAT, Super Smash) are not included.
Exclusions. Super overs are excluded from every total. A match abandoned without a ball bowled has no ball-by-ball file and is not in the dataset, even where a toss took place and official records credit the named players with an appearance. M can therefore sit one or two below a player's official career figure. Match appearances (M) come from the playing XI in each match file, so a match where a player neither batted nor bowled still counts as an appearance. Where M is missing, that player's appearances have not been loaded yet.
"Best" innings and spells are ranked by runs and by wickets then runs conceded; a quiet date here is only quiet within this dataset.
