9 July in cricket

9 July

Dates follow UTC, the same clock as our daily posts.

On This Day in 2017, Evin Lewis produced a blistering exhibition of power hitting against India, smashing 125 off just 62 balls for the West Indies. It stands as the finest batting effort recorded on this date in T20 history, a reminder of the left-hander's destructive gifts in full flow.

The date has also served up other memorable knocks. In 2024, Pathum Nissanka struck 119 from 59 balls for Jaffna Kings against Kandy Falcons in the LPL, while Chris Gayle blasted 105 off 57 for the Jamaica Tallawahs against Trinbago Knight Riders in the 2015 CPL.

With the ball, India's Pooja Vastrakar led the way in 2024, claiming 4 for 13 against South Africa in a T20I.

Coverage & definitionsCricsheet ball-by-ball · matches played on this date (UTC) · data through 24 October 2026Show ▾

Source. Ball-by-ball data from Cricsheet. New matches are loaded from Cricsheet twice a day (10:00 and 22:00 UTC), typically a day or two after a match is published there.

Internationals. T20 internationals are included only when both teams are ICC full members. Fixtures against Associate nations (e.g. Netherlands, Scotland, Nepal, USA) are not in the dataset, so international totals for players who faced them are lower than their full career figures. Afghanistan men's internationals are absent for a different reason: Cricsheet has withheld every match involving the Afghanistan men's team since 14 November 2024, so none of them can be loaded. Every full member's totals are lower by the matches they played against Afghanistan, and Afghanistan men's players do not appear at all. Afghanistan women's matches are unaffected.

Leagues. Leagues: IPL, BBL, PSL, CPL, SA20, MLC, ILT20, BPL, LPL, WBBL, WPL — full history of each. Domestic T20 competitions outside this list (e.g. the Blast, SMAT, Super Smash) are not included.

Exclusions. Super overs are excluded from every total. A match abandoned without a ball bowled has no ball-by-ball file and is not in the dataset, even where a toss took place and official records credit the named players with an appearance. M can therefore sit one or two below a player's official career figure. Match appearances (M) come from the playing XI in each match file, so a match where a player neither batted nor bowled still counts as an appearance. Where M is missing, that player's appearances have not been loaded yet.

"Best" innings and spells are ranked by runs and by wickets then runs conceded; a quiet date here is only quiet within this dataset.
