28 October
Dates follow UTC, the same clock as our daily posts.
On This Day in T20 cricket, Suryakumar Yadav produced a dazzling display for Mumbai Indians against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2020 IPL, racing to 79 off just 43 balls. It was the standout batting effort of the date, and with Jasprit Bumrah chipping in with 3 for 14, Mumbai had both departments covered. Devdutt Padikkal fought back with 74 off 45 for RCB, but it wasn't enough.
October 28 has also delivered memorable bowling. Back in 2012, Bangladesh's Salma Khatun was near unplayable against Sri Lanka, claiming 4 for 6, though Sandamali Dolawatta's 3 for 0 and Inoka Ranaweera's 3 for 9 showed the Sri Lankans could reply in kind.
More recently, in 2025, Corbin Bosch grabbed 4 for 14 for South Africa against Pakistan.
