2 October in cricket
2 October
Dates follow UTC, the same clock as our daily posts.
On This Day in 2019, Alyssa Healy produced one of T20I cricket's finest individual displays, blazing 148 from just 61 balls for Australia against Sri Lanka. It remains a landmark knock, with teammate Nicola Carey chipping in with 3 for 15 to complete a dominant day for the Australians.
The date has long favoured the big hitters. In 2023, Hayley Matthews struck 132 off 64 balls for the West Indies against Australia, while David Miller's 106 from 47 balls for South Africa against India in 2022 was pure power. Rohit Sharma also reached three figures here, making 106 off 66 against South Africa in 2015.
Matthews shone with the ball too, taking 4 for 12 against New Zealand in 2022 — a rare all-round mastery of the date.
