6 September in cricket
6 September
Dates follow UTC, the same clock as our daily posts.
On This Day in 2016, Glenn Maxwell produced a masterclass of destruction, blasting an unbeaten 145 from just 65 balls for Australia against Sri Lanka in a T20I. It remains one of the most explosive innings this date has witnessed, a reminder of the Victorian's ability to reshape a match on his own.
The date has also belonged to the bowlers. In 2019, Lasith Malinga delivered a stunning spell against New Zealand, claiming 5 wickets for just 6 runs — remarkable economy and control for Sri Lanka.
Elsewhere, Nicolas Pooran smashed 102 off 53 balls for Trinbago Knight Riders in the 2023 CPL, while Virat Kohli (82) and Jos Buttler (77) added their own contributions in years past.
