12 August in cricket

12 August

Dates follow UTC, the same clock as our daily posts.

On this day in 2025, Dewald Brevis produced a stunning display of power hitting, blazing 125 off just 56 balls for South Africa against Australia. The young batter's explosive T20I innings stands as the finest performance to grace this date, a reminder of the destructive talent he possesses.

The date has long favoured aggressive strokeplay. Back in 2017, Evin Lewis smashed 92 from 52 balls for the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots against the St Lucia Stars, while a year later Shai Hope struck 88 off 45 for the Barbados Royals against the Guyana Amazon Warriors.

That same 2018 CPL clash saw Raymon Reifer deliver the day's standout bowling figures, claiming 5 wickets for just 20 runs for the Royals.

Coverage & definitionsCricsheet ball-by-ball · matches played on this date (UTC) · data through 24 October 2026Show ▾

Source. Ball-by-ball data from Cricsheet. New matches are loaded from Cricsheet twice a day (10:00 and 22:00 UTC), typically a day or two after a match is published there.

Internationals. T20 internationals are included only when both teams are ICC full members. Fixtures against Associate nations (e.g. Netherlands, Scotland, Nepal, USA) are not in the dataset, so international totals for players who faced them are lower than their full career figures. Afghanistan men's internationals are absent for a different reason: Cricsheet has withheld every match involving the Afghanistan men's team since 14 November 2024, so none of them can be loaded. Every full member's totals are lower by the matches they played against Afghanistan, and Afghanistan men's players do not appear at all. Afghanistan women's matches are unaffected.

Leagues. Leagues: IPL, BBL, PSL, CPL, SA20, MLC, ILT20, BPL, LPL, WBBL, WPL — full history of each. Domestic T20 competitions outside this list (e.g. the Blast, SMAT, Super Smash) are not included.

Exclusions. Super overs are excluded from every total. A match abandoned without a ball bowled has no ball-by-ball file and is not in the dataset, even where a toss took place and official records credit the named players with an appearance. M can therefore sit one or two below a player's official career figure. Match appearances (M) come from the playing XI in each match file, so a match where a player neither batted nor bowled still counts as an appearance. Where M is missing, that player's appearances have not been loaded yet.

"Best" innings and spells are ranked by runs and by wickets then runs conceded; a quiet date here is only quiet within this dataset.
