5 July in cricket
5 July
Dates follow UTC, the same clock as our daily posts.
On This Day, Tim Seifert produced the standout showing, blasting 104 off 63 balls for the Galle Marvels against the Jaffna Kings in the 2024 LPL. It remains a memorable century in the tournament's history.
The date also belongs to Faf du Plessis, who struck twice on July 5. In 2025 he hammered 91 off 52 for the Texas Super Kings against the Seattle Orcas in the MLC, a decade after his 79 off 61 for South Africa against Bangladesh in 2015.
There was fireworks with the ball too. Adam Milne tore through the Seattle Orcas for the Texas Super Kings in that 2025 MLC clash, claiming 5 for 23. Danielle Wyatt, meanwhile, doubled up with 76 off 46 for England and 3 for 16 in different years.

Coverage & definitionsCricsheet ball-by-ball · matches played on this date (UTC) · data through 24 October 2026Show ▾
Source. Ball-by-ball data from Cricsheet. New matches are loaded from Cricsheet twice a day (10:00 and 22:00 UTC), typically a day or two after a match is published there.
Internationals. T20 internationals are included only when both teams are ICC full members. Fixtures against Associate nations (e.g. Netherlands, Scotland, Nepal, USA) are not in the dataset, so international totals for players who faced them are lower than their full career figures. Afghanistan men's internationals are absent for a different reason: Cricsheet has withheld every match involving the Afghanistan men's team since 14 November 2024, so none of them can be loaded. Every full member's totals are lower by the matches they played against Afghanistan, and Afghanistan men's players do not appear at all. Afghanistan women's matches are unaffected.
Leagues. Leagues: IPL, BBL, PSL, CPL, SA20, MLC, ILT20, BPL, LPL, WBBL, WPL — full history of each. Domestic T20 competitions outside this list (e.g. the Blast, SMAT, Super Smash) are not included.
Exclusions. Super overs are excluded from every total. A match abandoned without a ball bowled has no ball-by-ball file and is not in the dataset, even where a toss took place and official records credit the named players with an appearance. M can therefore sit one or two below a player's official career figure. Match appearances (M) come from the playing XI in each match file, so a match where a player neither batted nor bowled still counts as an appearance. Where M is missing, that player's appearances have not been loaded yet.
"Best" innings and spells are ranked by runs and by wickets then runs conceded; a quiet date here is only quiet within this dataset.
